OXO family back on TV - but this time...

The OXO family was a mainstay of British TV advertising, like the Bisto kids and the Milky Bar kid. They were just there. Now we have meerkats and Italian opera singers.  It just aint the same.

Well, time for a flashback of sorts. The OXO family is on the way back, but this time it's not mum Linda Bellingham (more often seen on Loose Women these days - so I'm told).  This time it's a MAN that's cooking in the kitchen; more accurately, it's the now grown-up student son.  And he's taking instruction from Dad over his laptop via Skype, presumably.

It's all a change from 1983 when this particular family's ads first appearred and Dad was seen as a bumbling idiot burning the dinner.  The new commercial was seen for first time last night (19 March) and the makers say it reflects the changing role of men in the home and in the kitchen.

The original adverts were scrapped because it was felt the family was out of touch and too middle class.
